The A Level and GSCE grades achieved by Woldingham students in summer 2024 were excellent across the subject areas.
At GCSE, 31% of all results were grade 9 and more than three quarters at grades 9-7. There were particularly impressive results in biology, chemistry, physics, English language, geography, history, theology, Latin, PE and music.
At A Level, 51% of all grades awarded were A*/A and 82% of grades were A*-B. Almost one third of our students achieved a clean sweep of A* and A grades. These fantastic results enabled Upper Sixth leavers to take up places at leading universities in the UK and overseas. Popular universities for Woldingham girls this year include Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Edinburgh and Exeter.
Others have chosen to study in the USA, Italy, Poland and The Netherlands. The diverse range of courses chosen, from archaeology and ancient civilisations to engineering, and medicine to fine art, clearly shows how Woldingham enables each student find what is important to her as we help her to #WriteYourOwnStory.
As well as a great set of results across the board, our value added scores are a real strength for Woldingham girls this year, with students achieving an average of one additional grade across all subjects at GCSE compared to their predicted grades when they joined the school.
Woldingham has a broad and balanced curriculum providing the chance for each student to develop her areas of personal interest and strength. All students study English literature, English language, maths, three sciences, theology and at least one foreign language up until GCSE. In Years 10 and 11 students choose to carry on up to three subjects from a wide range of humanities, language and creative art options.
These include:
At Sixth Form, students can choose from a range of 26 different A Level subjects including new subjects such as economics, psychology, media studies and politics. Sixth Form students can also pursue an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), where they develop independent research and presentation skills in an area of personal interest.
Our unique THRIVE programme supports our academic programmes by helping every student develop the growth mindset, resilience and self-worth to truly enjoy their successes and learn from their setbacks.
We also offer a wide range of academic enrichment opportunities, from societies for debating, law and philosophy through to extra qualifications in areas such as mathematics, financial studies and sports leadership.
